Rob Halasz

Governance, Founder
Rob has over 20 years of experience in environments that have been under constant change, experiencing significant business transformation. Rob has a consistent track record of adapting to organizational change while delivering mission critical initiatives with tangible results. Rob has extensive strategic planning, IT governance, Program / Project Management, Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC), application hosting, account management, professional services and operations experience with Fortune 500 clients. Rob has led multi-million dollar programs for some of the largest financial institutions in Canada and has provided advisory services to various industries, including Healthcare, Banking, Insurance, Retail, and Government.

Rob has a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the University of Toronto, is a Project Management Professional (PMP), and is ITIL Foundations v3 certified. Prior to co-founding Great Ideaz, Rob held a Director role at TELUS Business Solutions and oversaw a professional services unit that delivered strategic consulting, custom web application solutions, and application release management.

As a Founder and co-CEO of Great Ideaz, Rob drives the go to market strategy and sales, provides strategic advisory services to Great Ideaz customers, and provides governance oversight for all Great Ideaz initiatives.

Tony Nicholls

Application Architect, Founder
Tony has over 25 years’ experience in the IT industry delivering a variety of projects using a wide range of technologies. Tony’s career started with a highly disciplined approach to software engineering. Working in the UK military sector, Tony was responsible for developing advanced weapons system architectures to extremely high quality standards. This experience has helped Tony in the commercial sector to develop aggressive application development frameworks using code generation technologies that enable pragmatic approaches to software delivery. Tony has worked in a variety of industries including Military, Banking, Insurance, Financial Services, Utility, Logistics, and Healthcare.

Tony has Honours degrees in Physics and Mathematics. Prior to co-founding Great Ideaz, Tony held a Solutions Architect role at TELUS Business Solutions where he provided strategic consulting and established the code generation framework for a software development centre of excellence professional services group.

As a Founder and co-CEO of Great Ideaz, Tony provides strategic consulting services to our clients and drives the development of our application framework, code generation technology and component library.

Bruce Lee

Infrastructure & Procurement Consultant
Bruce has over 20 years’ experience in the ICT industry running very successful IT support and consulting businesses. Bruce brings a wealth of IT operations experience and IT infrastructure knowledge. Prior to launching his own IT professional services business as a successful entrepreneur, Bruce was the VP of Business Development and Partner at B-Line Technical Services where he played a crucial role to developing trusted relationships with their customers.
At Great Ideaz, Bruce provides IT operational management as well as hardware and software procurement expertise to consulting engagements. Bruce also has deep experience in the various technology solutions for the Financial Trading sector.

Andrej Kastelic

Infrastructure Consultant
Andrej has over 20 years’ experience working in the ICT industry and has an outstanding reputation for his workmanship as well as his exceptional IT knowledge. Andrej has successfully launched other IT consulting businesses by providing the “backbone” of technical leadership and advisory services to their clients. Andrej has many years of experience and technical expertise with hosted solutions and provides technical leadership for major infrastructure projects. Prior to his present consulting role, Andrej was the Manager of Operations at Workbrain (an HRM software company), now Infor. Andrej started as the 10th employee at Workbrain and was managing technical operations of the business from 2001 to 2004 that saw the company grow from 10 employees to 400. His main responsibilities included management of three data centers located in North America that housed more than 200 servers and a wide breadth of network related equipment. In addition, his team was also responsible for installation, deployment and maintenance of companywide hardware, software and licensing needs.

Andrej has provided hands-on IT services to many companies and industries in North America including Real-time Trading and other Financial Services, Banking, Non Profit, Healthcare, and Retail. He has extensive knowledge of Microsoft based operating systems, MS Active Directory, Exchange servers, and BlackBerry Enterprise servers (to name a few). He also has in-depth knowledge of server virtualization technologies and has worked with MS Hyper-V, VMware, and Citrix XenServer. Andrej also has extensive network design and implementation experience and is SonicWALL certified.

Jeff Micallef

Virtualization Consultant
Jeff has about 15 years of experience working in the ICT industry at some of the most recognized organizations in North America including EMC, Moneris Solutions, Mackenzie Financial, BDO Dunwoody, and Bank of Montreal. Jeff brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in completing large scale virtualization implementations including physical to virtual migrations of hundreds of servers. He has deep experience with the VMware suite, storage, server migration toolsets, disaster recovery and backup technologies.

In addition to virtualization infrastructure, Jeff has a wide range of experience working with a variety of server infrastructure including MS Active Directory design and administration, Cisco UCS servers, MS Windows clusters, and load balancing technologies. Jeff provides an infrastructure architecture leadership and mentorship role for project engagements.

Michael Zhao

Network Design Consultant
Michael has over 20 years’ experience in the ICT industry, specializing in network engineering. Michael has vast experience with various network technologies including Cisco, Juniper, Nortel, HP, F5, FortiGate, and SonicWALL. Michael has played a leadership role in network architecture design, implementation, and optimization analysis of large scale WAN/LAN, L2/3 redundant networks, VoIP QoS, IDS/IDP, VPN/SSLVPN access, enterprise Wi-Fi, Load Balancer/Application Firewall, and network security. In addition to his deep network expertise, Michael also has years of working experience with VMware ESX Server, Unix (Sun Solaris), Linux (CentOS/Fedora), MS Windows Servers, and relational database servers (Oracle & MS SQL).

At Great Ideaz, Michael provides a leadership role to network infrastructure assessments, design, and optimization projects. He often participates in various other projects in an advisory capacity to the rest of the project team for network related planning, design, and implementation. Michael holds many technology certifications in Cisco, Juniper, FortiNet, and Microsoft (and more) and has a Master of Science degree from Beihang University.

Arbi Arzoumani

UI/UX Consultant
Arbi has over 20 years’ experience in front end web / mobile development and user experience design. He is very proficient with WordPress and can create aesthetically professional and impressive sites. Arbi also has extensive experience in open source (“LAMP” stack) systems administration including database admin. Prior to his present consulting practice, Arbi co-founded and later sold php|architect; a monthly print and PDF magazine dedicated exclusively to professionals who use the PHP development language. Arbi was the head publisher of the magazine business, which expanded into live online classroom programs and conference events that would host over 400 people at various locations in North America. Arbi has been a guest speaker at many events to discuss the future of usability design and emerging technologies in this field.

At Great Ideaz, Arbi provides a creative mind to user experience design for both web and mobile implementations. Arbi also provides back-end architecture design and implementation services for open-sourced platforms.

Sarj Bains

ERP and EDI Consultant
Sarj has over 17 years’ experience in the IT industry and has filled a broad range of roles including business analysis, system / application architecture, software development and database consulting. Sarj has extensive experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) platforms. He is well versed in a wide range of systems and technologies including JD Edwards E1 ERP, Macola ERP, IBM’s Gentran Server for EDI Integration, One Network TMS, Transplace TMS, Crystal Reports, SQL Server, SQL Stored Procedures & DTS, XML, XSD, XML Schema Definition Tool, XML Serialization/De-Serialization, TMS systems, and MS .NET development just to name a few.

Sarj has worked on multi-million dollar projects with large-scale, high transaction volume systems that have involved data migrations and systems integrations under very aggressive timelines. Many companies Sarj has worked with in the retail sector are well known name brands such as Walmart, Amazon, Home Depot, Lowes, Richtree Markets (Formerly Mövenpick), Cara Foods (Kelseys, Montana’s), and Sir Corp (Jack Astor’s, Papa Leoni’s) among many others.
